The official poster for the 70th annual Festival de Cannes (17-28 May) has been released and is nothing short of inspiring. The Italian actress and social activist Claudia Cardinale is jaw-dropping as she is captured spinning on the Cannes poster in a fine dress.
-By Nikki Main
A revered actress in the 60’s and 70’s it is no wonder that Cardinale was chosen to be the image for the Festival de Cannes. Cardinale posted on her Facebook page “we normally live one life only, but I have had the privilege of living many.” Further proof that the celebrity was chosen for her inspiring work as well as her contributions as a social activist and ambassador for feminist causes.
There is much controversy over the supposed airbrushed image of Cardinale but she has commented for various magazines saying “this image has been retouched to accentuate this effect of lightness and transpose me into a dream character.”

Whether the poster has been altered or not, I think everyone can agree that the 78-year-old actress was the perfect representative for the 70th Festival de Cannes.
