To say Dolce & Gabbana has had a busy week in New York City would be a vast understatement. After unveiling their upscale jewelry collection at The New York Public Library, Domenico and Stefano brought their party to the Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center. On the 65th floor of 30 Rock, they unveiled their latest menswear collection. The fashion frenzy did not end there; on Sunday evening, 103 of their Spring 2018 Alta Sartoria looks glided down the runway to Liza Minnelli’s legendary crooning.

As models made their way down the gorgeous Met Opera steps, something became incredibly apparent- on top of their eye for design, which has definitively permeated our culture and consumption today, Domenico and Stefano know how to do business. VIP clientele sat front row at the Alta Sartoria show while press and editors took the next few rows with the understanding that the line not only has to make it onto glossy editorials but has to also sell.
In a true homage to NYC, an empire of dreams to realize and identify with, D&G incorporated motifs such as the Flatiron Building, Chrysler Building, Art Deco silhouettes, baseball and basketball and even The New York Times in their designs. The motifs made their way onto the clothes as prints and manifested in the beading and sequins for a line that can be worn daily or donned for special occasions. The Alta Sartoria eveningwear simply stunned with pieces like soft alligator shawl-collar jackets and an Aurelian-flowered robe and trousers set. In D&G’s line of thinking, it’s totally okay to show off what you have in this short, short life.
To top everything off, the brand opened a new store on Mercer Street which caters specifically to high-spending millennials. The evening kicked off with another runway show with guests such as Spike Lee and Naomi Campbell in attendance. The outlandish is celebrated at 155 Mercer Street with the second floor covered almost entirely in varying colors of leopard print. Reflective surfaces, painted walls and neon lights cater to millennials’ Instagram obsession and with Global Glam’s EIC in attendance, we made sure to snap a few pics ourselves.
