We all know about the big fashion week shows: New York, London, Milan and Paris. Twice a year the fashion world descends onto these cities – shows, after parties, networking. Now, you can add a fifth location to your fashion week calendar: Decentraland.
More than 60 brands will be featured in the inaugural metaverse fashion week called MVFW22. And it will feature everything you would imagine from a fashion week happening in the real world. The Luxury Fashion District will host runway shows including Dolce & Gabbana and Tommy Hilfiger. Rarible Street will showcase various pop-up shops such as Puma, Girls Gang Label and Crypto Couture. Of course, there will also be various brands that are going to present their newly acquired flagship stores. Among those that recently invested in Decentraland real estate are Philip Plein, Forever 21 and Estee Lauder.
Fashion week wouldn’t be the same without the famous after parties. The first ever MVFW will have plenty of them and some big names are taking part in it. Bob Sinclair and Blond:ish will be playing in Vegas City while Nicki Nicole will be performing in the Metaloop district.
The only question is if those parties will be fun without the real-world booze or will they be like the parties of 2020 when people thought having nights out via Zoom was a good idea? What about the paparazzi – are they going to be there and take photos of our virtual characters? What about the feeling of 1,000 socialites, bloggers, press attendants trying to get into room in Spring Studios claiming they have the only front row ticket out there? We are certainly going to find out about all of those over the next few days.
