Rimowa and Porsche – two German manufacturers that symbolize ultimate craftsmanship in their respective industries – have joined forces. The companies recently announced the launch of their 911-inspired, limited-edition suitcase. It will be available in Porsche’s online store on April 21, 2022. If you are thinking about buying one, you need to be quick. The suitcase will be limited to a mere 911 pieces. That’s no coincidence of course as the 911 is Porsche’s most iconic car.
According to Rimowa and Porsche, the suitcase “reflects their commitment to technical innovation, high performance and functional yet beautiful design.” The bodywork of the suitcase and its handle are made out of shiny aluminum with parallel grooves – the design that made Rimowa famous. The big Porsche crest shows that this is not your ordinary Rimowa suitcase. Each side of the suitcase contains two high-quality leather straps which remind people of the leather straps that used to secure the hood of a sportscar to its bodywork.
The inside of the suitcase is colored in black and white checks and is supposed to remind the owner of the design of the interior of the 911 in its first ten years of its existence. The yellow instruction label reminds of the engine compartment label design of the car. The big question you may have, is if the suitcase fits into your 911 trunk. Of course, it does and the next time you are driving the car to a hotel or a stay at your friends’ houses, you can show them the uniqueness of your Porsche collection by adding the ultimate collector’s suitcase to it.
