Over the last few years, few designers have revolutionized the fashion industry like Philipp Plein. From having the most lavish and extreme fashion shows in the world to using social media as a form of branding and customer engagement with the luxurious jet set lifestyle. Now, Philipp Plein has become one of the first brands to fully embrace cryptocurrencies. The German designer has been accepting crypto payments online since 2021 but now has launched his first crypto concept store on Old Bond Street in London. It will be a mixture of fashion, cryptocurrencies and NFTs.
You will be able to buy everything from the usual Plein apparel and designer sneakers to his “Lil Monsters” NFT collection. Of course, you will be able to pay in one of many different cryptocurrencies. Philipp Plein himself holds different cryptos and said he is in it for the long term and not to trade it back and forth. The unique feature of the store is that it will update the prices in cryptocurrency every 10 minutes to the latest trading price. Should this concept store prove to be a success, Plein said he has already planned to roll it out across a number of his stores worldwide.
Needless to say, that the store opening was accompanied by a big party. British rapper Stefflon Don was performing and London-based artist DJ Fricktion was responsible for the music that night. VIP guests were invited to a special dinner afterwards which Plein attended as well. The opening of the concept store has drawn plenty of interest by the media. Bloomberg and Forbes were just two of the media outlets being present and having interviews with Philipp Plein about his plans.
We will follow the store closely. It could very well end up as another Plein-led revolution in the fashion industry.
