Jacob & Co has released a new watch – the Astronomia Solar Bitcoin – a limited edition watch (25 pieces in total) that pays tribute to the cryptocurrency Bitcoin. The price? It is currently available for roughly $400,000 so if you want to get one, be quick as we would imagine demand among the cryptocurrency community for these kinds of watches will only increase. The centerpiece of the watch encompasses a rotating Bitcoin logo, a yellow sapphire sun, a moon made of a diamond, and a golden earth. It is meant to symbolize that at its beginning, Bitcoin was far out there and is now making it into the mainstay of the global financial system.
The Astronomia Solar Bitcoin watch is made out of a total of 444 components. Jacob & Co has designed the watch with two rotating platforms. One has three main arms and a subsidiary arm of the caliber while the other includes the microchip-designed main plate that serves as a backdrop for the rotating solar system. It takes about 10 minutes for the platform to complete one rotation. At the same time the microchip-designed background of the Astronomia Solar Bitcoin, made out of 18k rose gold, rotates counterclockwise in 11 minutes, creating a unique and complex twist to the watch. The case of the Astronomia Solar Bitcoin is 44 millimeters in diameter and 21 millimeters in thickness while holding a single piece sapphire crystal window. Its strap is made out of elegant alligator leather.
The flying tourbillion of the Astronomia Solar Bitcoin is equally unique. It has a masterfully decorated cage that encapsulates the balance wheel, hairspring and escape wheel. When assembled and expertly fine-tuned, it allows the Astronomia Solar Bitcoin to keep accurate time throughout its 48-hour power reserve.
