New York City secured the number one position as the best restaurant in the world, according to the World’s 50 Best Awards that was hosted in Melbourne, Australia this past Wednesday. Eleven Madison Park prevailed as the best restaurant in North America and the world’s best restaurant this year. Swiss-born cook Daniel Humm, who won his first Michelin star at 24, became Executive Chef in 2006 and is now a co-owner with Will Guidara.

The establishment houses a congruent atmosphere and is sure to attract visitors from around the globe despite its $295 price tag per guest for an 11-course tasting menu. The event’s website declares that “it’s the perfect partnership of outstanding hospitality and exquisite food in an iconic setting in New York City that makes Eleven Madison Park the number 1 in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants.”
The restaurants were judged worldwide by an assembly of 1,000 industry experts, including chefs, restauranteurs, and critics, all of whom voted across 26 regions. It is no surprise that with its two balcony-level private dining rooms that offer views of Madison Square Park through floor-to-ceiling windows, and its New York style mixed with Modern European, this gem won the top spot for the world’s best restaurant.
