Hot Seat Questions:
GG: Nickname?
AB: Aya
GG: Residence(s)?
AB: New York City and London, but I sometimes feels like I live in airports!
GG: Signature Style?
AB: Combat boots, a skirt and a t-shirt or sweater.
GG: What’s On Your Bed Stand?
AB: Lavender oil, pillow mist (mostly with aromas that are meant to help with sleep), water, my passport, a notebook and chapstick.
Alliances?
My dog, César! His social media handle is @slayzie because he is pretty much narcoleptic and lazy, hence Slayzie. However, I need to get cracking on his account, the second I remember the password that is.
GG: Causes You Are Passionate About?
AB: Freedom For All, which is a non-profit that my mother started to help the fight against Human Trafficking and Modern Day Slavery. The organization saved several thousand people alone just last year!
GG: Tricks Of The Trade (Life Hacks)?
AB: Laughter
GG: Indulgences and Guilty Pleasures
AB: Fruit Rollups
GG: New York Hot Spots?
AB: They are always changing but I feel like Indochine (restaurant) has been “cool” for decades. The food is consistently delicious and the atmosphere is always amazing. I am in complete awe of (owner) Jean-Marc Houmard and how he has kept this iconic restaurant a “hot spot” in a city the churns out restaurants like nothing else.
GG: Best Date Spot?
AB: My advice? Forget about an actual spot and instead share a new experience together! Eg. Sleepover Night at The Natural History Museum or Trapeze School on the West Side Highway.
GG: Top 3 Qualities Your Bae Needs To Have?
AB: Kind, supportive, ability to laugh with me.
GG: Favorite Place To Shop in the world?
AB: I always find my favorite places to shop by asking a friend or a stranger who is local. I don’t love shopping unless it’s for furniture, but I think you find the best things when you least expect it.
GG: Favorite Hashtag?
AB: #LiveASuiteLife, #TravelWithAlessandra, #AdventureWithAlessandra
GG: Instagram Tip?
AB: Put the phone down! Enjoy the moment and post later.
GG: Coveting?
AB: A good night sleep.
GG: Don’t Leave Home Without?
AB: César or my passport.
GG: What Would You Do With One Extra Hour In The Day?
AB: Work… (biting lip emoji)
GG: Role Models and Why?
AB: My mom. I know, corny. But she is incredible. She has given the past 10 years of her life to fighting for human rights and rescuing people from slavery. Not trying to brag, but I will because she would never— she saves thousands of lives every year. She is pretty amazing!
GG: Style Icon(s)?
AB: To be honest, I have never really thought about it. Audrey Hepburn comes to mind, though I could never be as pristine as she was. Parisian girls in general have the most effortless and chic street style.
GG: Favorite Designers?
AB: I love to mix and match but a few of my favorite designers are Chanel, Carolina Herrera, Misha Nonoo and Monique Lhuillier! However, there are so many incredibly talented designers, I know I am missing a few!
GG: Essential Beauty Item?
AB: Lip balm and sun screen
GG: Key To Surviving In New York?
AB: Taking a moment for yourself and remember to breathe. I can’t wait for the day that I learn to follow my own advice!
GG: What Have You Accomplished On Your bucket List Thus Far?
AB: The ability to ask questions. I used to fear that it would make me sound stupid or that I would be judged. Other than that, hiking Matchu Pichu, scuba diving with sharks, living on a sailboat, working at a horseback riding safari (I didn’t know that was on my Bucket List until I did it!) and scuba diving in the Maldives.
GG: Bucket List items Still To Tick?
AB: Oh gosh, I come up with more every day! The list is never ending but a few that come to mind are taking a sailboat through the Glaciers in Antarctica, going on the world’s longest train journey (Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express), horseback riding through Patagonia with Gauchos, going to “Santa Claus’ Village” in Rovaniemi, Lapand (the child in me is very much alive), live in an Igloo… I could go on and on.
One thing not on my bucket list? Sky diving. I CANNOT comprehend how anybody willingly says, “Oh, I’m 18,000 feet above ground, now is the perfect time to jump out of a plane head first.”
GG: Life lessons You’ve Taken With You?
AB: Surround yourself with people that are smarter or more talented than you are, always ask questions, don’t regret anything (it’s a waste of time, use the experience to learn for the future!), and do something for someone else every day without them knowing—if they find out, it doesn’t count.
A lesson I still must conquer? Don’t let the fear of failure paralyze you. Everyone will fail, it is about how you pick yourself back up.
GG: What’s In The Pipeline? (Personally/Professionally/Or Both)
AB: At the moment I am working on a few movies and a TV show as well as on my main passion project, a website that I will be launching very soon (so be on the lookout for that!)
GG: Where Do You Think You’ll Be Five Years From Now?
AB: I think I always have the same answer: “Not asking myself ‘what have I achieved in the past 5 years.’
