Balmain and Estee Lauder have decided to team up to create new, innovative beauty products for its luxury customers around the world. The collaboration will be called Balmain Beauty and is expected to launch in the fall of 2024. The goal is no less than to transform the luxury and beauty world through “exceptional design, singular craftsmanship, and an unyielding commitment to innovation.”
Creative Director Olivier Rousteing who has been with Balmain for over ten years says that he and his team have been pushing the boundaries of what is possible in fashion so “there was no way that we were going to expand into beauty without ensuring that we had found the partner who understood and shared our outlook.” And Estee Lauder with more than seven decades of experience in the prestige and luxury beauty industry seems to be the perfect partner.
To make the vision a reality, Guillaume Jesel will be appointed President, Global Brands, Tom Ford Beauty, Balmain Beauty and Luxury Business Development, effective immediately. According to him, “Balmain and Olivier Rousteing are visionary forces in global fashion. [He] looks forward to working with them to expand the Balmain universe and forge a new space in luxury beauty that clearly reflects the strong, inclusive, and fearless spirit of the brand.”
This is the second Balmain collaboration making headlines in a short order. Just a few days prior, the brand surprised with a partnership with mineral water brand Evian that culminated in a haute couture dress made from recycled Evian plastic bottles. Not only is the dress recycled but it is also fully recyclable and could be re-transformed into a water bottle. The dress was part of the Balmain Paris Fashion Week show. Moreover, the brands will also release a custom Evian water bottle this October. The label of the bottle incorporates signature baroque embellishments.
