The often on-and-off beard trend is back and is more than just a fad; it’s a way of life. The masculine beard is back and it’s redefined the world of the modern man. In what was once considered a niche market in the industry, this new ‘un groomed’ but groomed look is now singing to the tune of $3.4 billion in annual sales and the rest of the world had better take notice.
The beard and it’s new found stardom can be seen worn on everyone from hipsters to politicians in all their glory. The fact that women seem to love a man with a beard adds to the appeal, as our lifestyle editor Clara states “I like my men, manly… with a nice beard and muscles “. As great as an invitation the lure of women may be to grow one there is much more to the mystique of the beard.
In a world where the same old has become the standard, the beard has helped men find their individuality. The uniqueness being a fashion statement, reflection of personality, and an ode to masculinity is helping redefine our modern men. The trend which began to peak in 2013 is now full scale in a booming industry, spawning many speciality shave shops and products proving itself to be much more than a niche market I think it’s time we all say hello to the new modern man.
