The Boom Boom Room is sultry and is a go-to for New Yorkers and socialites alike. Here, you’ll be looking at stunning views of the city, and stunning views of people. The jazz and drinks are nice as well, but it’s the bougie atmosphere that makes it seem like an Oscars after-party. Situated in the meatpacking district and at the top of The Standard Hotel, this lounge is perfect for those who have no budget as well as those looking for exclusivity. It is often the playground for high-profile New Yorkers and movers & shakers.
For visitors and tourists, I would definitely make a stop be here, the last reservation ends at 8:30pm (+1 212-645-4646). As you sit down by the floor-to-ceiling windows on the 18th floor, you will look out over the water, the manhattan skyline, and the Statue of Liberty. The sun descends from the sky and the orange and golden light reflect off the skyscrapers, warming your skin as you lift a hand-crafted cocktail to your lips.
After 11 p.m. you must be on the guest list to enter. And to be on the guest list, you either have to be a ‘member’: someone who has a personal relationship with the owner of the hotel, André Balazs, or you must be a guest of that member. Even if you are a guest of the hotel, it doesn’t mean that you will get to stay, you might even be asked to leave per the discretion of the maître d’ as the doormen have iPads that constantly update the guest list.
The menu is made up of tapas-sized, hand-crafted options such as foie gras toast and green pea ravioli as well as seafood options such as oysters, caviar, tuna tartare. Their desserts are also delectable-looking. One dessert is named “the gold bar” filled with chocolate mousse. The cocktails range from champagne to signature cocktails such as “Bring on the Night,” “A Million Dollars,” “Love is Fire,” and “Honey Boom Boom”. Now, those sound like sexy drinks, bring it.
