When we think about Cannes, we typically think of beach clubs, the infamous Croisette, designer stores, men and women dressed in cocktail and black tie walking down the Croisette, the famous and majestic red carpet in front of the Palais. In short, we think about the Cannes Film Festival. But Cannes has more to offer. Each June, more than 80,000 of creatives from all over 100 countries gather for the Cannes Lions. The Cannes Lions is the biggest event for those working in the advertising, marketing and communications fields. We are talking about C-level execs, CMOs, presidents in overlapping industries like PR, Media, Tech, Publishing, IT. Twitter, Meta, Spotify, Netflix, NBC Universal, Amazon, Reddit, Yahoo, AdWeek, are just some of the big budgeted firms taking over Cannes this week.
While the main venue – just like for the Film Festival – is the Palais, there are also numerous events happening along the beach clubs of the Croisette where you can party, network, or just relax and enjoy a nice cocktail. The Cannes Lions have grown to attract the biggest stars and celebrities in the industry alongside C-suite executives from the worlds largest companies. For example, Gary Vaynerchuk will be speaking with Paris Hilton about the NFT revolution and what it means for brands. Spotify’s CEO Daniel Ek will be talking about the future of media and creators. In addition, the world’s biggest companies are attending.
Amazon, Roku and Tik Tok are among the newcomers this year. Amazon has rented an entire port to host workshops, talks and of course evening parties. The Twitch apartment is also among the sought-after venues. Meta and Twitter have rented entire beach clubs along the Croisette. Ad tech companies are well known for having the most famous yacht parties this week. All in all, the Cannes Lions have emerged as a “must attend” in the social calendar of the rich and famous. Whether you work in media or not, you will learn a lot this week and can make connections that last a lifetime.
You also don’t need to work in the industry to attend the event. Tickets for the Lions can be bought here.
