Earlier this season, Chanel announced the cruise show would be themed ‘Desert’. So where would be the perfect place that couples modernity with fashion? Dubai of course. When the Abra boats shuttled Chanel Spring Cruise Show’s guests to a little island, they took us into that mysterious Eastern world as well. Imagine the mirage of endless desert, then suddenly, Chanel takes center stage. This is better than a water Mirage!
The venue was customized in traditional Islamic wooden window screen, along with traditional majlis- floor seating. Through that man-made palm tree forest ceiling, the guests could see the Dubai skyline as they started their journey with Chanel.
I have to say that this collection amazingly absorbed the traditional Arabic culture and mixed beautifully with Chanel’s classy and graceful taste. The wide-leg silhouette of the pants creates this drifting feel with chiffon that goes well with the desert city. Feels like the hotness of the desert area is blowing away with a pleasant breeze. What is more, in this collection, there are lots of new prints that Karl originates from the 12th or 11th century. He said to make the history print come back in a modern way is very Chanel. The combination of the new and old was very cool. Giving full respect to customary dressing style, Chanel integrates the conventional look to its classic suits, that the suits come with jacket, skirts, and pants on one look, which I found very exotic but still Chanel. It also worth mentioning that the hair accessories, (either in a moon shape or with a double C shape) amplified the Arabic atmosphere.
I don’t know about you, but I fell in love.
