NYFW is back in full swing after the pandemic hiatus and of course Christian Siriano is among the marquee events of the season. This time, he held his show in the iconic Gotham Hall – the iconic former Greenwich Savings Bank Building built in the 1920s. And although the designer had pared back the guestlist from 800 to 300 due to the lingering effects and restrictions of Covid-19, the star-studded event was attended by the who’s who in fashion, music and film as well as countless other celebrities. From Katie Holmes to Lil’ Kim to supermodel Coco Rocha, the Siriano show had them all.
According to Christian Siriano, this collection was inspired by the Italian women in his life. As such, some of the classic black and white evening gowns were intermixed with bold designs in neon orange and lime colors. Those were also some of the favorite colors of his grandmother while she was on holiday in Positano in the 60s and 70s – a huge inspiration to Siriano. The finale of the show was also unique in the sense that the models didn’t walk out in the previously worn outfit but had rather all changed into denim wear. The outfits are part of the upcoming collaboration of Siriano with Gloria Vanderbilt jeans. The CFDA designer himself is a huge fan of Vanderbilt. According to him: “[He] grew up watching [his] mom wear Gloria Vanderbilt jeans in the 80s, one of the many reasons [he is] excited about this collaboration. The brand has always been known for representing diverse, powerful women.”
The show was truly a highlight of this year’s NYFW. From the location, to the variety of designs, colors and cuts of the dresses, to the music, everything was perfect. We have no doubt this collection will be a hit and are already excited to see what Christian Siriano has planned next. Here are our favorite pieces from the collection:
