If Christmas shopping could be described in two words; we would say it is gratifying but also a little rigid. Christmas shopping is a Tuesday, nice, but not Friday. All comparisons aside, sometimes you think you know exactly what the person would like and you end up getting it completely wrong; and then you ask yourself, where did I go wrong? Well for one, you didn’t come here first. Christmas is the best holiday around and it should be fun and a holiday you look forward to with showering your loved ones with gifts you know will bring smiles and some tears if you’re lucky. Let’s Get Cookin’
Just another way for the foodie in your life to get inspired and creative in the kitchen (and to avoid eating the same meals over and over again)!
Let’s go to Class.
Cooking classes are a fun way for the foodie in your life to learn more and be more educated in the world of food.
CORKBUZZ
For an all-you-can-get education of wine, Master Sommelier Laura Maniec has you covered. Offering a wide variety of classes at her two Corkbuzz wine bar locations. The $75 class is labelled as “recreational” (Corkbuzz has four levels of classes, and recreational is the most introductory). But before I forget, there will be a cheese plate! Corkbuzz is located at 13 East 13th Street (646-873-6071) and also inside Chelsea Market at 75 9th Avenue (646-237-4847). To find out more, click here.
MILK BAR
The only place where you can get your own patterned headscarf when you step into the educational kitchen at Milk Bar in Williamsburg. Not only will you leave with your own Milk Bar style cake, but you will be given a cooked cafe and all materials are included. The best part about the class is that you’ll be able to snack the entire time. Plus, you’ll get to make truffles as a side project. This is a fun class for someone who is experimenting on the baking side or would just like to learn more. Milk Bar is located at 382 Metropolitan Avenue in Williamsburg, (347) 577-9504 ext 1. Haven’s Kitchen
This homey Chelsea spot is all about education. Not only will you learn the basics of cooking, but you’ll also learn how to eat and how to make your meals environmentally friendly. Classes are also themed to one country’s cuisine like Japanese home cooking, Middle Eastern mezze and Neapolitan pizza. To learn more and book a class, click here.
La Scuola at Eataly
Eataly is one of the most popular restaurants in New York City, we are more than sure yo
uhave heard of it or seen pictures from Instagram and snap chat. Well, if the foodie in your life is a fan of Eataly, then there are going to love to take a class there. Lidia Bastianich is a chef who curated the classes herself. She offers Hands-on classes include making fresh gnocchi or Italian cheeses. She also likes to teach the history and techniques of savoury baked pasta. Anyone who takes a class will also receive a 10 percent discount on purchases made in Eataly’s market. Talk about a win. We think it’s safe to say that your Christmas shopping just got a whole lot easier. And on that note, you’re welcome.
