New York Fashion Week is in full swing and plenty of fashion icons and celebrities have been spotted at the first shows of the season. However, everyone has been waiting for one special event: the famous Harper’s BAZAAR Icon’s party. As in previous years, the event took place in New York City’s famous Plaza Hotel. As soon as we arrived at the hotel, we knew something special was about to happen. The entire block around the Grand Army Plaza was closed off with fences and guarded by security. Fans and paparazzi were eager to get a glimpse of their favorite celebrities and outfits.
After making our way through security and the red carpet area we arrived in the lobby of the hotel where guests were led to the Palm Court. Where you would normally gather for an afternoon high tea, A-list celebrities were mixing and mingling, enjoying their cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. We enjoyed our conversation with Victoria Secret’s supermodel Romee Strijd and her boyfriend. On our way to the famous Grand Ballroom, we also met with Adriana Lima who we saw the day before at a different NYFW event.
Once everyone had finally made their way into the Ballroom, the main event of the evening was about to being. No other than 15 times Grammy Award winner Alicia Keys held a private concert for the attendees of the BAZAAR Icon’s party. Everyone was dancing when Keys sang “No One” or “Fallin” and the atmosphere reached its climax when “Empire State of Mind” was played – what a fitting song for this venue and party. After the concert, celebrities and guests continue to mix and mingle, see and be seen, and exchange plans for the rest of NYFW. It was an evening worth remembering. How often do you get to talk to Carine Roitfeld, Emily Ratajkowski, Alessandra Ambrosio, Ashley Graham and Vanessa Hudgens in the same evening? We cannot wait to see what the rest of NYFW has to offer and will surely be back for Harper’s BAZAAR Icon’s 2020.
