1,600 hp! Some say the final top speed will be around 330 mph! 1,500 nm torque! Koenigsegg may have just released the ultimate hypercar that will challenge Bugatti. The Jesko Absolut is the epitome of power, aerodynamics and race car design. It is only in its prototype stage so a lot of important specifications like acceleration and top speed have not been released but Koenigsegg did disclose that this car will be “unbelievably fast” and its speed will be higher than “any other fully homologated car before.” The current record has been set by the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ and stands at 304 mph.
The Jesko Absolut is certainly an engineering masterpiece. Its drag coefficient is only 0.278 Cd and 1,600 hp will power the car. Over 8,000 hours have been invested in aerodynamics and design. Every inch of the car has been studied and analyzed and if a certain component didn’t enhance the performance, it was removed or altered. The car is powered by a twin turbo charged V8 with the world’s lightest V8 crankshaft, weighing only 12.5 kg. A modern dual clutch makes shifting between the nine forward gears smooth and seamless all while cutting weight from other modern dual clutch systems by 30% – as we said, every component of the car is designed to achieve maximum performance.
The wishbones of the car are looking more like the ones of a Formula 1 car than other sportscars. The suspension system has been designed and customized to extreme speeds and low downforce levels. While the inside of the car is obviously not as luxurious as a Rolls-Royce or Maybach, it is also not uncomfortable or minimalistic like some custom race track cars. Koenigsegg themselves call it functional beauty. Carbon fiber, leather, alcantara and aluminum dominate the inside of the car. It does come with a digital audio system, USB charging capabilities and a “bird’s eye” parking assistant.
We are sure we will hear more about the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut in the very near future.
