written by Global Glam April 12, 2022

It’s almost summer. May offers events for everyone – whether you are a sports enthusiast, art and entertainment lover or socialite. You cannot afford to miss these events:

  1. Kentucky Derby (May 07)

It is one of the most famous horse racing events on earth and now in its 148th edition. People will once again flock to Louisville, KY for the Kentucky Derby. Two important questions will be answered that day. Who wins the race and who wears the most extravagant outfit?

  1. Cannes Film Festival (May 17 – May 28)

After being postponed to June last year because of the pandemic, the world-famous film festival is back in its traditional May slot. Our team will be once again attending and bringing you all the red-carpet action. Movie premiers, gala dinners, afterparties on yachts beach clubs and the Cote d’Azur flair. It is a combination you cannot miss.

  1. Frieze Art Fair New York (May 18 – May 22)

Frieze Art will be back at The Shed and after last year’s edition was impacted by Covid-19, we expect the event to be back in full force. Over 65 galleries will be showcasing their latest works. The first day of the fair is, as usual, the invitation-only preview day.

  1. Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este (May 20 – May 22)

If you are into vintage cars, this is the perfect event for you. Every year, classic and vintage car enthusiasts gather at the hotel Villa d’Este in Cernobbio (Italy). The trophy is awarded based on public voting about which automobile expresses beauty, passion and uniqueness the best.

  1. amfAR Gala Cannes (May 27)

The who’s who of celebrities and socialites will gather at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc for the annual amfAR Gala during the Cannes Film Festival. This is a charity event you cannot miss. This year, the gala will feature an exclusive performance by Christina Aguilera and a curated auction conducted by Simon de Pury.

  1. Monaco Grand Prix (May 27 – May 28)

It is the most sought-after motorsport event on Planet Earth. Those who win after 78 laps are remembered as legends forever. Racing through the tight and narrow streets of Monaco at up to 180 mph is frightening. There’s no room for error. The best way to watch it is from your own yacht in the marina. Celebrities, statesmen and royals will be in town so you can expect the most extravagant parties and events of the year.

  1. Roland Garros (May 22 – June 05)

Who will lift the Coupe des Mousquetaires this year? The second major of the year awaits and a new king of the clay court will be crowned. While you may decide to skip the first few rounds of the tournament, you should make sure you have your ticket booked for the final.
