Attention to all the Virgil Abloh fans out there – the ultimate collection car has just launched. Mercedes-Maybach just unveiled their limited-edition, bespoke S-Class. It was designed by Virgil Abloh and Gorden Wagener as part of Project MAYBACH, an initiative first announced in late 2021. The collaboration followed the success of “Project Geländewagen” in which the G-class look was transformed into a kind of rally race car look.
The exterior of the new S-Class car features a two-color combination. The lower part of the car and rims are painted in sand hue while the upper part is painted in glossy obsidian black. The color scheme on the inside of the car is also dominated by sand hue, dark grey and black. Throughout the car you will find the famous Mercedes-Maybach logo alongside Virgil Abloh’s name inscribed in fine leather.
The Abloh-designed S-Class is a customized version of the S680. It comes with a 6.0l twin-turbo V12 engine that generates 621hp and around 1,000nm of torque. The car goes 0-60mph in 4.4 sec and is capable of reaching an electronically-limited top speed of 130mph. However, car enthusiasts and especially fans of Virgil Abloh will not buy this car for its performance statistics. Rather it will be about getting one of just 150 cars that will be produced. We think the car has the potential to become the ultimate collection car. Time will tell where bids will go in the secondary market.
