McLaren to Enter Metaverse

McLaren to Enter Metaverse

The metaverse is a rapidly expanding opportunity and luxury brands are already making millions of dollars in it. LVMH, Kering and Dolce & Gabbana are a few well known brands to have entered the NFT and metaverse market. The British supercar maker McLaren is set to join them through a partnership with InfiniteWorld.

It will allow customers to create and mint original NFTs and digital artwork that represents McLaren’s super and hypercars. Certain NFTs will come with one-of-a-kind benefits including exclusive, buyers-only experiences.

McLaren’s metaverse ambitions are developing quickly. Just last month, the company revealed their new Formula 1 racecar for the 2022 season via the Roblox video game – it was a first for a Formula 1 team. The unveiling took place simultaneously alongside the real-world reveal.

Fans can already explore a digital version of the team’s headquarters where they are able to take selfies with the new racecar, buy Formula 1 digital items or gear up in the avatar bundles of McLaren’s F1 drivers Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo.

McLaren isn’t the only carmaker to have entered the metaverse race. Ferrari and Lamborghini have also launched NFT products in recent month. We will follow closely which manufacturer will emerge as the winner in the real and digital world.
