New York Fashion Week Is Back – Here Are The Highlights

written by Global Glam September 18, 2022

New York Fashion Week is finally back! It has almost been three years that we have had a “normal” NYFW without any COVID-19 related disruptions. The SS23 week has seen the return to normalcy we have all missed. People from all over the world came to NYC to celebrate fashion – and what a celebration it has been. Some of the best shows in recent memory took place. Crowds of fashionistas and socialites danced, mingled and mixed at the hottest parties and events NYC has to offer. While in previous years, shows were usually held at Spring Studios, this year’s NYFW had locations scattered across the entire city – we loved it! Here are the shows and events that everyone is talking about

Fendi Fashion Show

Fendi has made a surprise appearance at this year’s New York Fashion Week. The occasion? To mark the brand’s 25th anniversary of the iconic Baguette bag. So of course, Fendi’s NYFW debut show was all about the Baguette. Kate Moss and Kim Kardashian were among the celebrities spotted on the front row. Linda Evangelista made her long-awaited return to the runway. She looked stunning in her turquoise gown, diamond earnings and a signature silver Baguette bag. Not only did we spot a Fendi bag on every model on the catwalk but it also seemed that every guest in attendance was eager to be seen and photographed in their most valued Fendi Baguette bag.

Tommy Hilfiger Fashion Show

For years, Tommy Hilfiger has attracted some of the most famous A-list celebrities. After a nearly three-year hiatus, we were glad to see the show back in the New York Fashion Week line-up. The Hilfiger show was attended by Kourtney Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Shawn Mendes, Kate Moss, John Legend and Jaylen Brown among others. In a first-of-its-kind show, Tommy Hilfiger brought together a real-life fashion show with a multiverse runway show. The show unveiled the new TH Monogram, created in partnership with illustrator and graphic designer Fergus Purcell, delivering a new take on modern prep. Inspired by Warhol’s legacy of celebrating pop culture and creative expression, the physical event brought together Futuremakers from the worlds of fashion, music, art and entertainment under one roof.

Tom Ford Show

Glitz and glam would be a fitting motto to describe the Tom Ford show this year. Somewhat of a blend of the 70s, 80s and 90s. Chris Rock, Madonna, Carmelo Anthony, Brooklyn Beckham all came to see the latest Tom Ford collection – and the likes of Gigi Hadid presenting it on the catwalk. The show was the last one on the official New York Fashion Week calendar and proved to be a fitting finale. Shiny metallic colors, lingerie-inspired pieces and oversized bomber jackets were among the outfits on the catwalk. The final part of the show featured signature Tom Ford suits and tuxedos paired with glitzy sequin gowns fit for a gala or festival.

Saks NYFW Kickoff Party

The annual Saks New York Fashion Week party has over the years established itself as probably the most glamorous party of the week and this year was no different. Guests were welcomed at the restaurant L’Avenue by a massive champagne tower that kept refreshing guests throughout the night. Waiters were walking throughout the venue handing out caviar bumps to the crowd. Add to that Saks-inspired cocktails and burgers, tuna tartare as well as a star-studded crowd and it is easy to see why everyone wanted to attend this party. We spotted James Harden, Nicky Hilton Rothschild, LaQuan Smith and Christian Cowan among the guests.

Harpers Bazaar ICONS x Bloomingdales 150 party

Traditionally being held at the Plaza, Harpers Bazaar partnered with Bloomingdales to celebrate their 150-year anniversary. As in previous years, the party featured plenty of celebrities: from Heidi and Leni Klum to Emily Ratajkowski and Drew Barrymore. Traditionally there is always a surprise music performance. During the last ICONS party in 2019, Alicia Keys was performing. This time it was Jack Harlow who had the crowd dancing to his mega-hit “First Class.” Other Bloomingdales celebrations and events continued throughout the week.
