Options on What To Wear For Your Next Virtual Date

Options on What To Wear For Your Next Virtual Date

Dating right now is very, for lack of a better word, weird.  Our ways of going about meeting new people and flirting will be on pause, but not for long. For many people, women especially, this changes this way we go about getting ready for dates. Many people are going on “virtual” dates via applications like Zoom.

For some people, the pressure to get dressed up has completely disappeared and many of us are showing up on dates without makeup and in our sweats, for which I completely commend. For others, going on a “virtual” date is a great excuse to put on your makeup and dress up, a way to reclaim an ounce of normalcy. If you’re struggling to come up with some outfit ideas, We have a few in mind for you:

Girly AF

If you’re worried about looking silly wearing a dress or full make-up on a date, screw that! With opportunities to go outside being restricted to grocery-store runs or walking your dog, there’s not many occasions to dress up. If you want to go the full nine-yards, go for it. The date may be a total bust, but it’s nice to have a chance to go back to your normal date routine even if it’s only for a limited period of time. Who knows? Your date may be thinking the same thoughts, and be very impressed you took the time and effort to dress yourself up.

Matching Sweats

If you’ve been wearing the same pair of sweats every day this week (no judgements here), now may be the time to bust out that new matching set you’ve been saving in your closet. A cute sports crop top and a fair of flattering joggers, or a fancier sweatshirt with matching pants is a way to level-up the athleisure vibe of a date outfit.

Give It A Little Twist

If you’ve ever wanted to experiment with your dating style, now would be the perfect time to do so. The reality is that many of the people you may be going on first “virtual” dates with are not going to be the love of your life or a long-term partner, which gives you much less pressure in the short-run. If there’s a makeup style or outfit style you’ve been reluctant to try in hesitation of turning off your fate, go for it. Many of us go with the most neutral version of ourselves to begin with on the first date, so take this time as the opportunity to be as flashy or flamboyant (or not, in the case of the sweats wearers) as you want.

While the state of dating is sooner to normal than later at the moment, that doesn’t mean your dating rituals have to change entirely. If you’re used to dressing up for a date, go for it. If you want to take it easy, and show up wearing a cute pair of sweats, go for it. Let your style be your therapy and your way of expressing yourself in this complicated time of love and dating.
