As this was my first professional fashion presentation, I found it quite fitting for Perry Ellis to pop my “fashion cherry”…

The event took place at the Hippodrome, and quickly I found myself passing living legends (Was that Nick Cannon?!). I maneuvered my way up to the 19th floor and entered what seemed to be a peak into Barbie’s fantasy: a room full of Ken dolls. I literally was so dumbfounded by the perfection that bestowed these models that I even texted my mom.
Perry Ellis put together an excellent presentation with more focus on clothing and less on spectacle. A favorite look of mine was a cobalt jacket with pants. It was bold and vibrant, and as creative director, Michael Maccabi described his collection, “uplifting, playful and fun.” That is exactly what I got from this event. From the way the models interacted, to the pop of vibrant color, it was a sight for sore eyes on an early Monday morning.
Located at their store on Broome St., the Suitsupply presentation was unexpectedly fabulous. Upon entering the building, I hopped into an elevator up to the fifth floor and as we ascended, you could hear music blasting until all at once the door opened to a perfect portrait of gentlemen.
There is something about a suit that uplifts ones demeanor; a sense of maturity, class and sophistication. I wanted to wear all the looks, right then and there. My favorite look that caused me to almost faint was the double breasted jacket. It had a exquisite fit, color and button detailing. Additionally I loved a spotty gray suit filled with yellows and blues, seemingly almost to be a photomosaic.
This presentation was full of classic styles for the confident gentleman.
More to come tomorrow, stay tuned.
