New York City is known for its tourist destinations, but what about its best-kept secrets? In NYC it is no question that you can get a coffee or tea at any location, with a Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts on every corner we know there is no short supply. But for some of the most original locations, you have to visit Soho. There you will find some of the most creative and unexpected places to get your caffeine fix.

Nestled in a cozy corner on W. Houston St., Fair Folks and A Goat is the perfect example of fashion combined with a faultless cup of coffee. Opened four years ago, and started in New Orleans, this unique coffee shop exceeds expectations. This shop has everything, from women’s and men’s apparel to watches, sunglasses and jewelry; it leaves nothing to chance. Stop in to shop around and for a quick pick-me-up at the store-front café.
Walking down this busy street in Soho with groups singing on every corner and fashion shoots every couple of blocks, an inconspicuous café resides in a bicycle shop. Known for its great cup of cappuccino, this coffee shop also sports several televisions for bicycling events as well as its own luxury line of cycling apparel. The recent bike race in Belgium supported a turnout of over 100 people this past weekend and the manager William says this is a regular occurrence. “We like to make this a great place to hang out, have a coffee, and maybe buy some cycling apparel.”
Down a long side street in Soho is an unlikely paired jewelry and tea shop located on Crosby street. Their jewelry is meticulously designed and use only the highest quality of materials. Walking into this small shop the first impression is that this is going to be the best cup of tea you’ve ever had. Small jars line the counter filled with herbs used to make an enjoyable cup that will leave you wanting more long after you’ve drained the last sip.
One of the few places in Soho to have a back garden, this hipster surf and coffee shop creates the welcoming environment we were looking for. Sitting on a street that doesn’t get much foot traffic, the store relies on its relaxed atmosphere, surf style apparel, and their pastries that come from Smiles up the road. Check out their website to buy their coffee brand or shop apparel.
