Remember 2019 when Bugatti surprised sportscar enthusiasts with the announcement of the Centodieci? Fast forward almost 3 years and the car seems to be ready for production according to an announcement by Bugatti. In the meantime, Bugatti has amassed over 31,000 miles of track testing the Centodieci in Italy to ensure perfect performance and handling that meets and exceeds the expectations of every Bugatti driver.
Bugatti will produce a mere 10 units of the Centodieci. The price? Each of the cars has a starting price of $8.8 million but it may rise in the future. Recent news reports are that a Japanese dealer is already asking for over $14 million for its build slot with expected delivery in January 2023. That said, you get a truly remarkable piece of engineering. The design of the Centodieci appears to mix parts of the Chiron with the famous EB110 of the 1990s but with a modern interpretation. No coincidence given the literal translation of Centodieci is “110”. Each of the cars will be handcrafted in Bugatti’s Molsheim facility.
The Centodieci is powered by an 8.0-liter, quad-turbocharged W16 engine generating a staggering 1,600 hp with 7,000 rpm. It has permanent all-wheel drive and a seven-speed DSG gearbox. This results in 1.6G of lateral acceleration. Bugatti decided to electronically limit the top speed of the Centodieci to 380km/h which is below the one of the Chiron. We’d be curious of the top speed if you were to disable the limiter. The time to acceleration from 0-300km/h is just 13.1 seconds. The Centodieci is also 20kg lighter than the Chiron which results in an impressive power-to-weight ratio of 1.13kg per hp.
We can’t wait to see the first Centodieci on the street although most buyers may likely keep it in the garage or on the racetrack most of the time. So let the bidding for each of the 10 cars start.
