From sexy to demure, eyebrows come in all shapes, sizes and thickness. Your eyebrows frame your face by setting the tone, so getting the perfect shape for your face is important. However, achieving the perfect brow shape can be daunting. Over-tweezing can leave you looking as if you are in a constant state of shock, but not keeping your brows groomed can make you look like the newest addition to the cast of Sesame Street. In an effort to achieve the perfect brow shape, we sat down with Benefit Beauty Brow Expert, Nicole Moore, to answer our burning brow questions.
- How can I wax or tweeze my brows to really make them pop and frame my face?
Take measurements for your face. Once you have your measurements, tweeze the underside of the brow hairs at the arch (B) a little bit at a time until you have opened the eyes up and created a pop.
2. One of my brows seems to want to do its own thing. How can I get both my brows to match?
No one will ever have perfectly even brows. To get them as close to each other as possible, tweeze the thicker brow to match the thinner brow. However, don’t do this in a magnifying mirror. People usually tend to take too much off when they use a magnifying mirror. Remember, your brows are sisters, not identical twins.
3. How can I achieve a natural look when I fill in my brows?
You can use a brow gel like Benefit’s Gimme Brow fibered brow gel or use a brow powder to lightly fill in. If you accidentally put on too much, take a disposable spoolie or an old (but cleaned) mascara wand to swipe off some of the product.
My go to brow tools are an angled brush, a must have for any brow powder, pomade, or gel, and the Benefit Brow Zings kit. You want an angled brush with stiffer bristles to help define the product you are using. I like the Brow Zings because the shades will work on almost everyone and the undertones are natural vs. some of the brands that have a grayish undertone. I also love the Benefit High Brow pencil. After filling in brows, I apply this highlighting pencil to the brow bone accentuating the arch and shape of the brow.
5. It seems that my brows are thinning in certain spots, how can I thicken them up?
To thicken up your brows try using Rapid Brow, Latisse, or Jamaican castor oil. It’s been said that the eyes are the window to your soul. If that’s the case, I would venture to say that your brows are the frames that set the tone. Whether you choose to shape your brows yourself or see a professional, keep these great tips in mind to achieve the perfect brow.
