Veuve Clicquot Celebrates 250th Anniversary

Happy 250th Birthday to Veuve Clicquot! There is probably no more iconic bottle in the world than the yellow labeled champagne bottle of the French manufacturer. Founded in 1772, Veuve Clicquot has truly shaped the champagne industry – from the first vintage champagne in 1810 to the first rose champagne in 1818. Even events like the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classics are regular additions to the socialites’ global calendar.

To celebrate this anniversary in style Veuve Clicquot has partnered with Belmond to create a journey on its Venice Simplon-Orient Express. The trip will last two days and takes place June 5th to June 7th. The journey begins in the city of Reims, France where the headquarters of Veuve Clicquot are. It is right in the center of the Champagne region in France. Attendees will be visiting the famous cellars and get to taste Veuve Clicquot’s most famous bottles (selected by Master Didier Mariotti).

From there, the train will take you to Venice, Italy and guests will reside in the iconic Cipriani, A Belmond hotel. On its way, you will have the opportunity to see the beautiful sunrise over the Austrian alps during a stop in the city of Innsbruck. VIPs who book one of the train’s suites will even get to attend a private pre-journey party in Veuve Clicquot’s private Hotel du Marc in Reims. It definitely sounds like the kind of trip you don’t want to miss.

As we celebrate 250 years of Veuve Clicquot this year, we will be keen to hear, see and taste what the company has planned for its next 250 years. We are sure the yellow labeled bottle will shine just as bright in 2272! As Veuve Clicquot says: “There’s only one thing better than a glass of champagne. A bottle.”
