Virtual Reality is about to get a whole new meaning attached to it as filmmakers strive to re-create the atmosphere that VR has introduced. This week, the Tribeca Film Festival is promoting Virtual Reality in film as never seen before. In one film that will be promoted at the Film Festival, Scatter, the director calls it “an experience, rather than a film.”

In some films the VR allows the viewer to sit in a subway car, move around and even listen in on what people in the car are thinking depending on who they are looking at. The experience allows the viewers to step into the film itself; Ridley Scott’s RSA Film Productions Company is introducing a new imprint that will be dedicated to creatively developing VR (virtual reality), AR (augmented reality) and mixed media.
The process is still experimental at the moment, but a recent analysis claims that by 2021 virtual reality could bring in revenues of $75 billion annually. VR movies will create the opportunity to step into the film from the courtesy of your own living room, dive into the Game of Thrones or jump into Alien: Covenant. The sky is the limit with this new technology that will revolutionize the film industry. RSA VR has partnered with Fox to create the utmost viewing pleasure for audiences everywhere.
