One of the hottest events of the summer is happening right now, and we’re not talking about the temperature. For sports fans and fashionistas alike, there are few bigger summer events than Wimbledon. Alongside the competitors are athletes, celebrities and influencers fighting alike for the biggest fashion moment.
While the attendees of Wimbledon have more freedom in their wardrobe to play around with colors and cuts, all players are required to wear white (shades of off-white and cream not included). While non-white trim is permitted, the pop of colors have to be on the neckline, sleeve cuff or outside seam of shorts, skirt or pant leg, and can only be under a centimeter wide. For the umpires, linesmen and ball boys and girls; well, they will be dressed by none other than Ralph Lauren. Since 2006, Ralph Lauren has been the Official Outfitter of The Championships and the first brand to exclusively do so in Wimbledon’s 129 years of history.
This year, some of Wimbledon’s biggest faces of fashion are not even tennis stars. Ralph Lauren “Spirit of Sportsmanship” campaign features athletic stars soccer player Son Heung-min, rugby star Maro Itoje, surfer Lucy Campbell, ballet dancer Francesca Hayward and G2 E-Sports League of Legends player Rekkles.
Ralph Lauren will also be the exclusive fashion outfitter to the G2 team. G2 Esports is one of the world’s leading entertainment and e-sports brands. This collaboration will mark the first time a luxury brand has been an official fashion provider for an e-sports team on a long-term basis.
