Taking place in the most beautiful private villa in Cap d’Antibes, France, ‘With Love For Peace’ successfully raised money for victims of the war in Ukraine. Attendees included high-profile celebrities like Olympic Gold Medalist Shaun White, actress Nina Dobrev (Vampire Diaries), who were both hosts for the evening. Coinciding with this year’s 75th Cannes Film Festival, the festival banned any connections to Russia’s government and has been known to address political issues aside from its rich cinematic wonderlust.
With Cannes’ support extending past films: the ‘With Love For Peace’ Gala was hosted on May 22 and was organized by USA for UNHCR, a non-profit that provides food, water, shelter and safety to refugees, Hollywood Domino, which raises money for charities during high-profile events through the game of Dominoes and PCI Media Impact, a storytelling-based non-profit that hopes to create “social change around the world.”
“In times of crisis, the stories we believe about others and ourselves influence the action we take. Right now we need stories that help us understand that refugees of Ukraine will need long term support and that we are capable of creating the community of love that can provide. This campaign will bring those stories to audiences around the world,” Meesha Brown, the president of PCI Media Impact explains
The ongoing conflict in Ukraine and its humanitarian impact were ongoing themes at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. President Volodymyr Zelensky gave a passionate speech during the opening ceremony via video. The cast and crew of “Butterfly Vision” staged an official protest on the Red Carpet. And then there was the “With Love For Peace” gala by Hollywood Domino to benefit the people of Ukraine.
The event took place at Villa les Pins in Cap d’Antibes on a beautiful Saturday evening. The villa is situated right in the heart of Cap d’Antibes on 10 hectares of land. When drivers arrived at the security gate, it took another 5min of driving to the entrance of the villa. The two-story neoclassical villa has 6 master rooms and 5 small rooms for staff and over 2,000 sq. ft. of space.
The evening started with a traditional red carpet (well in this case it was actually a black carpet). Pritika Swarup, Viktoria Silvstedt and Hofit Golan were all spotted. Thereafter, attendees could mix, mingle and network at a cocktail reception. Among the favorite drinks seemed to have been a CBD-infused champagne. After a short performance by a jazz band, guests were invited to the garden for the main part of the evening. It started off with a dinner, followed by an auction for the people in Ukraine. US snowboarding legend Shaun White who attended the gala with his girlfriend Nina Dobrev donated a signed snowboard from his collection for auction – needless to say it quickly sold. Finally, the space transformed into a giant dancefloor and guests danced the night away.
