3 Hot & Fun Workouts To Join Now To Get Beach Body Ready

Major cities around the globe are now thriving with endorphin-loving fitness fanatics, and you are about to be one of them. There is a certain trendiness to breaking a sweat in a boutique studio- whether its the sociability coupled with camaraderie, or the fellowship mixed with a healthy accountability. We are going to give you the inside scoop into a SoulCycle, Pure Barre, and a Pole Dancing class. The great things about these classes? You don’t have to be a supermodel or a gym rat to take them. They are addicting to every individual- and each bring a different component.

Time to put your hair up, take off your perfect winged-eye, and begin to sweat.

  • Pricing: $34/class and $5 for biking shoes (NYC).
  • What is it: It is a 45-minute, heart pumping, indoor cycling class.
  • What does it tone: SoulCycle acts to strengthen your legs, tighten your core, and tone your arms. In the class, you use 2 pound weights alongside the bike to get a full body workout.
  • Type of music: Tops Hits; they are also musically themed classes.
  • Look of the studio: The lights for most of the class are turned off and the studio is only lit by candles. For parts of the class (when you are actively climbing a hill) a brighter spotlight comes on. The low-lit class makes you feel comfortable because no one can really see you.
  • Added bonuses: Free gum and hair ties. Showers and lockers are all included into the space.
  • What to wear: Leggings and sports bra. It gets really hot in the studio so you want to be able to take off your top. For most comfort while riding, I would go for full coverage leggings.
  • Overall rating: 10/10. Great ride and looking forward to returning!

  • Pricing: $23/class.
  • What is it: Pure Barre is a type of class that strives for long, lean muscles. It combines the art of dance to basic body movements.
  • What does it tone: With the littlest motion, all your muscles will be working- tightening your core and burning fat.
  • Type of music: The type of music ranges from Pop to Yogi music.
  • Look of the studio: There are mirrors and a ballet bar surrounding the studio.
  • Added bonuses: Pure Barre gives out free samples of products (athlete body wipes, face wash, make-up remover) for freshening up after a class.
  • What to wear: Cropped leggings and a thin t-shirt. Yoga clothes will be the most breathable and comfortable option while taking a barre class.
  • Overall rating: 8/10. Although it was a good workout, I found that I wasn’t really hooked after the class. This slow paced class was just not the adrenaline rush I wanted from a workout.

Pole Dancing (New York)

  • Pricing: $12/class.
  • What is it: In a beginner’s class, one will learn a small routine that includes how to climb and dance while using the pole.
  • What does it tone: Pole Dancing uses virtually every muscle in your body. While you do need to have a strong upper body, leg strength is needed to climb the pole.
  • Type of music: Sexy pop music.
  • Look of the studio: The hot pink studio had a great view of Union Square. When strutting your stuff with the pole, you feel like you own Manhattan!
  • Added bonuses: Pole Dancing definitely increases an individual’s confidence; its empowering to feel beautiful while working out and is a great way to get in shape.
  • What to wear: Shorts (that do not ride up) and any basic top.
  • Overall rating: 9/10. I was pleasantly surprised by the other students in my class. All around the age of 20s and 30s, these were young females who wanted to work out and learn some new moves. Pole dancing gets a bad reputation, but I think now, Manhattan is setting a new social stigma for the exercise.
